Arthron IMPACT™ Clavicle Pad

Over the years, Arthron has distinguished itself by providing amazing protective equipment that can help players recover from many common injuries sustained during play. In this case, the IMPACT™ Clavicle Pad provides excellent coverage for the collarbone by combining a 1/2'' foam pad underneath a rigid, moldable plastic shell that incorporates a special channel to further protect and isolate the collarbone from injury. Great for athletes who have suffered a broken or bruised clavicle, this product can help players participate safely.

IMPACT™ Features:

  • Domed design rests over, not on, injured areas.
  • Rigid shell and padding deflect and disperse force to prevent injury.
  • Moldable plastic and adjustable straps ensure a custom fit.
  • Used extensively by both professional and college football teams.
  • Intended for athletes under 250 lbs.
  • Available in left and right orientations.

Please Note: This product is designed to be used as part of an overall therapeutic regimen. Consult your physician or athletic trainer before use, and follow all manufacturer instructions. Once this item has been heated and formed, we are unable to accept a return.

Does this cover the clavicle and AC joint? I have a surgically repaired shoulder form a bad separation and I'm looking for protection in case I land on shoulder snowboarding.
1

Lance, thanks for reaching out on our website.  Yes, these pads cover the ac and clavicle.  One is made just for an AC joint issue and the other is if the clavicle was also broken.  We have had customers use these for snowboarding but you would need to make sure that it is secured properly.

Is the dome moveable so it protects the specific area over the fracture? I have an athlete with a mid clavicle fracture coming back after it heals. I would like him to have protection over the fracture spot and to disperse impact away from previous fracture.
1
This product is made to protect the whole clavicle but it can be heated and molded slightly for fit.

My son has fractured his L clavicle times 2 in the past 5 months. Would this work under lacrosse pads?
1
It may help if he gets checked over the top of the shoulder. He would have to test it out to see if it limits his throwing accuracy etc.

My son is a senior in high school, last summer he sprained his right AC joint and now this year at the beginning of Summer he hurt his left AC joint, his left side is still giving him trouble and I am wondering if this would help. I know it shows for the collarbone but will it help protect his AC joint along with his football should pads ?
1
Yes, it would take some pressure off the AC joint when playing. You can also consider the pad for just the AC joint. The url is http://www.ithacasports.com/acpad.html.

Is this something that will fit underneath hockey shoulder pads? I am concerned the two will be bulky/constricting. If this is the case, is there another product you would recommend to wear under the shoulder pads?
1
This product should be able to fit under the hockey pads. If not, it is returnable as long as it has not been worn or molded. This is the only product I know of that is made for athletes that have had a previously injured clavicle.

Is this item allowed in youth soccer?
1
The answer would depend on the league and the ref. You would have to speak to them ahead of time. Some leagues allow it and some do not. Most of the players who wear this are playing football. It will probably not fit small youth so would also depend on the age/size.

My son is 14, 5-10 and 125 pounds; 1) will this fit him? 2) Does this provide some protection from re-fracturing his collarbone. He wants to resume basketball. 3) Do most find this brace comfortable to play basketball in or does it restrict motion?

My son is a high school QB and he just broke his clavicle bone he now has external pin in that will be taken out in about 3 weeks. When he gets the ok to play again would this be suitable for him?
1
The manufacturer can not guarantee that it will work for everyone. We have had some QB that were able to wear it and some say it is to constricting. I am sorry but I do not have any more information than that. He would have to test it for himself.
